Nissan cars prices up to INR 12,000, Sunny diesel goes untouched
Japan based auto major in the country Nissan Motors has announced an increase in the prices of its current array of vehicles present in India. The company’s bestselling hatchback Nissan Micra in petrol and diesel variant along with leading sedan Nissan Sunny petrol will be costlier by 0.56 percent to 2.09 percent. This increase in price will come into effect from 20th January 2012 onwards. While the one which escaped the price hike, is the December launched diesel variant of Nissan Sunny. The reasons for this hike are the same that Nissan had informed last month and that is of declining Indian rupee against the US dollar alongside the rising cost of raw materials, which have now become unbearable for the company.

The three petrol variants of Nissan Micra and Nisan Sunny will be expensive by Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Although, there will be a big jump of Rs 12,000 in the prices of diesel powered variants of Nissan Micra. But on the other hand, the diesel version of Nissan Sunny walks free with no increment. This stand by the company is taken in order to continue with the mass volume sales of recently launched Nissan Sunny diesel, which is a sigh of relief for those planning to buy diesel powered Sunny.

Earlier, market leader Maruti Suzuki India and General Motors have also announced their price hikes on their lineup of vehicles in India. Maruti increased the cost of its vehicles by 0.3 percent to 3.4 percent, while General Motors raised the prices by 0.5 percent to 1.75 percent.
