Nissan Sunny – seven months, bagful of sales, accolades
Nissan Sunny, the luxury sedan by the Japanese car maker has been more than successful in India after the small car Nissan Micra. Primarily it is the big size and not only the big size, but the big features that have helped the car fetch good volumes in India. Recently Nissan has been able to sell Nissan Micra hatchback and Sunny sedan in India in decent numbers. Micra being the best selling car by the Japanese car maker. Starting at Rs 5.93 lakh ex showroom New Delhi, the Sunny sedan is not a car but a ‘caaar’ as it has a lot of safety, security and comfort features. Nissan Sunny was launched on September 20, 2011.

A close rival of Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Tata Manza, Toyota Etios, and Hyundai Verna, the Sunny sedan features have been acclaimed as far above the price it is offered at. Being stretched in size giving more space at the front and the rear row passengers, the aerodynamically shaped car also promises a good hold over the road due to its long wheelbase. Keyless entry, start-stop function and automatic climate control powered air conditioning all make it a worth buy. Besides this two airbags at the front and anti-lock braking system besides electronic brakeforce distribution help make the car safer.

Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, the Nissan Sunny has at a time driven past all the sedans in searches on the internet. However absence of automatic version has greatly dampened its prospects as almost all the segment players such as Honda City, Ford Fiesta and others have the availability of automatic version. The Nissan Sunny Automatic is expected early next year. As per the latest updates Nissan’s India ally Renault is planning a sedan based on Sunny the same way it has developed Renault Pulse on the basis of Nissan Micra.
