Nissan Sunny Automatic Transmission addition on the cards!
Nissan India, a unit of the Japanese auto giant Nissan Motors, is speculated to launch a new CVT (continuously variable transmission) auto transmission version of its popular mid size sedan – Nissan Sunny – in India. Recently, the car was spotted testing near company’s manufacturing plant in Chennai, which is said to be an automatic transmission version of Sunny.

The car model which was caught testing in Chennai wasn’t carrying diesel badge at its boot gate, indicating that company might be planning to launch the new Nissan Sunny Automatic Transmission in petrol version only. It is expected that the same 97 Bhp petrol engine of the manual transmission version with a peak torque of 134 Nm. Moreover, the cost factor may prevent the company from adding the automatic transmission in the lineup of already expensive diesel version of the car.

The Nissan Sunny CVT is already available in the American market, where it is receiving a very good response from the buyers. It has been speculated that the same CVT transmission gearbox will be incorporated in the Indian version of the Sunny AT.

The car was launched in India in December last year and it has been receiving a very good response from the Indian buyers. Now, the launch of Nissan Sunny CVT will further strengthen the position of this sedan in the mid size sedan segment by enabling it to compete more speedily with the rivals like Honda City, Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta.
