Nissan Sunny: Top selling car in Feb
Nissan Sunny, a popular mid-size sedan that was rolled-out in the Indian auto market in the month of September 2011, has emerged as the top selling Nissan India portfolio car in the month of February 2012. The company managed to sell 3,130 units of this car in the Indian market during this month, leaving far behind the rivals like Skoda Rapid (2,204 units) and Volkswagen Vento (2,174 units).
After initially launching the car in September’11, the company had rolled-out the much awaited diesel variant of the car in the month of January 2012, which has been receiving a staggering response from the buyers. The car has received a number of prestigious awards within a few months including the likes of ‘the Best Entry Sedan of 2011’.

Speaking on the performance of the Nissan India portfolio cars during the month of February 2012, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director at NMIPL (Nissan Motors India Pvt. Limited), said that company’s India oriented cars Micra and Sunny are registering their names among the most preferred cars in their respective segments.

The top selling Nissan Sunny sedan along with popular Nissan Micra hatchback has helped the company to post its highest ever monthly sales in the month of February 2012. The company managed to sell 5,371 units of its cars in the Indian market during this month as compared to 2,081 units sold in the same month last year, registering a massive sales surge of 158 percent. The sales of popular Nissan Micra hatchback stood at 2198 units during this month as compared to 2030 units sold in the February 2011.
Besides Sunny sedan and Micra hatchback, the remaining sales Nissan India during Feb’12 were contributed by its other portfolio models like premium sedan Nissan Teana, luxury SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) Nissan X-Trail and luxury sports car Nissan 370Z.
