Nissan unveils gold rendition of GT R in the honour of Usain Bolt
Nissan Motor Company, the Japanese based highly pacing automaker has hooked up with the world’s fastest sprinter till date, Usain Bolt for developing exclusive “Bolt” edition of its bestselling flagship sportscar, Nissan GT R. Bolt’s passion for racing identical with Nissan GT R’s inherent genes will build the foundation for developing a sportscar for the speed enthusiasts. After grabbing accolades for his record breaking performance at the 2012 London Olympics, the car maker contracted a deal with Bolt to pose as the brand ambassador for 196-mph Nissan GT-R. He has also been envisaged with the honorary title of “Director of Excitement” for its worldwide marketing campaign christened as “WHAT IF_”.
In the honour of the fastest man on the earth, Toshiyuki Shiga, Chief Operating Officer at Nissan Motor Company in presence of Usain Bolt pulled the covers off from the gold draped Nissan GT R. The gold coloured sportscar will be headed for auctioning at eBay online auction portal and the funds will be directed to Usain Bolt Foundation. The funds at the charitable trust are streamed for the betterment of the youth of the native country of Bolt, Jamaica.
The golden Nissan GT R exclusively ensembles bespoke real gold fittings on the interiors along with Bolt’s signature engraving. This exclusive GT-R will be Bolt customised sportscar developed on the basis of recordings made of the reaction times, acceleration and handling capabilities, collated after a series of test drive sessions undertaken by the sportsperson.
Bolt will provide his expertise to the Nissan’s product specialists for actualising the project of developing exclusive Bolt edition GT-R to be made available in existing GT-R markets. The company will be releasing the details of the GT-R development on a later phase. It is however, known that the 2013 Nissan GT-R will be loaded with a 3.8L twin-turbo V6 outpouring a top power of 545 hp and a top torque of 627 Nm. With a top speed of 315 kmph, Nissan GT-R can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km in a meagre 3 seconds.
