Premium hatchback A-Class and more from Mercedes
The Indian car bazaar has been a good host for hatchbacks and SUVs. The car market is flourishing and booming as every other global car marker is trying its luck here with a hatchback or an SUV. This time around, the German car makers, including Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are planning to bring in a range of premium hatchbacks to India. Therefore, this year, it will belong to these manufacturers in terms of hatchbacks. Starting with Mercedes-Benz, the car maker will introduce the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback sometime during mid of this year. This car will be followed by the launch of BMW 1-Series. On the other hand, Audi might roll out the Audi A3 hatchback in 2014.

Coming to the reason behind focusing on the hatchbacks, the companies feel that Indian consumers are more drifted towards affordability even in the luxury section of cars. Therefore, what could be better than offering premium hatchback for a price that won’t burn a hole in their pockets. According to the reports, the Indian luxury auto bazaar may just increase by four folds by 2020. Hence, the luxury car makers find it best to invest here, rather than in the any other developed market.
Apart from launching premium hatchbacks, Mercedes Benz has big plans for India. Besides the introduction of A-Class hatchback, the car maker is in full swing and plans to launch Mercedes Benz GL Class SUV. This SUV will be coming with 3.0 litre of V6 diesel engine and would compete with Audi Q7. Another model from Merc stable would be the 2014 Mercedes Benz E Class that will give a head to head competition to BMW 5-Series. Finally, there will be a Mercedes Benz CLA sedan built on MFA platform, which might be launched in India this year.
