Renault plans three new cars by next year

The French automobile giant, Renault is keen on making its mark in India, which is the second fastest growing car market of the world. It has showed plans of being among the top three brands in India, by the year 2015. The automobile company has confirmed that it will be launching three new cars in the Indian market by the end of next year.

The three launches will include a small car that would be introduced this year, a mini SUV called 'Duster' by mid of next year and a mid-size sedan by the end of next year.

According to Len Curran, Renault India's Vice President, these three new cars are just a part of the company's plans of launching five new models in Indian market. Renault has recently launched its SUV Koleos in India. Koleos is priced at Rs. 22 Lacs. It is being manufactured at its Chennai plant. The production capacity of this plant is 50,000 units per annum.

Presently, Renault has 14 dealerships across the country, and it plans to take the number to 40 by this year's end. By the end of next year, the company wants have 100 dealerships across the country. Renault India is also planning on opening service centres and dealerships in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode by the end of this year.

Renault entered the Indian market in May this year. Since its launch in India, Renault has sold 700 cars. Until the launch of Koleos, Renault was selling just one car in the market. The premium segment sedan Fluence, Renault's first car in India, is priced in the range of Rs. 12.99- 14.40 Lacs.
