Renault Scala launch anytime, price to start at Rs 5.99 lakh

The fifth car and the last one for this year from the Renault stable is about to be launched in India. Already it has been displayed to some select paparazzi and various reports suggest that the Nissan Sunny look alike car will be on a success journey soon. The Scala is developed on Sunny’s platform and has lot many similarities with the Nissan sedan but the French styling and other features are characteristic of the car. The Renault Scala price is not yet out but it is believed that it will be priced somewhat the same as that of the Sunny sedan. This strategy will be a great measure to not to affect the partner’s car sales.

Renault as a brand has been too aggressive in India and has launched four cars viz. Renault Fluence sedan, Renault Koleos premium SUV, Renault Pulse small car and Renault Duster compact SUV one after the other. Among all these car launches, the Duster SUV and Fluence sedan have been extraordinarily successful for the car maker while the Pulse has also created some sensation with its price that starts at Rs 4.25 lakh. At this price, the Pulse car is just another competitor of the Nisan Micra that starts at Rs 4.21 lakh for the petrol model. The Scala car on the other hand will be competing with the rivals of Sunny. At Rs 5.93 lakh, the Sunny is a close rival of Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and Ford Fiesta Classic. All these will also be the rivals of Scala as well.

Though the Scala derives a lot of features and specifications from the Sunny sedan, it in fact is an altogether different car. However, a close look at the exteriors remind one of the Sunny sedan but Renault has worked well on the front of the car to make look a typical Renault car. The Scala will have the same engine options – 1.5 L 99 PS petrol engine and 1.5 L diesel 86 PS engine. Apart from the similarities there will be a lot of features that will be typical of the Scala and not found in Sunny. Though these are somewhat cosmetic in nature but changes are changes indeed.
