Renault Scala launch in October this year soon after Duster checks in
Renault Scala, the Nissan Sunny based sedan will be launched in India this year end after the SUV Renault Duster is launched in India this October. The Scala will be the fifth offering by the car maker in less than last 15 months. Thus the French car maker will be repeating what is did with Nissan Sunny to produce Renault Pulse. The Scala sedan price is expected to remain around Rs 8 lakh and it will be available in petrol and diesel avatars.

The rebadged Sunny will undergoing some cosmetic changes before it will be Renault Scala. Almost all the internal parts will be the same as that of the Sunny sedan and the Scala will also have the same engine configurations. Since Renault and Nissan share the same plant in Chennai, producing Scala will not be an uphill task for the French car maker to rebadged the Sunny sedan. Sharing the same production line has its advantages. However, from the marketing point of view, giving the same offering in altered shape and size does not really suit the Indian car buyer who sincerely looks for a viable sedan offerings.

With the Scala launched in October this year, Renault’s five offering slated for this year will be over and we can expect new line for the next year to be announced soon. As far as the Scala is concerned, it will be trying to fit in a segment that is largely governed by Honda City sedan which was also recently the best selling car in the used car segment. Besides this, Scala rivals also include its sister Nissan Sunny sedan, Ford Fiesta that has recently launched the automatic version. It will also be giving a tough fight to Toyota Etios sedan and Skoda Rapid from the Czech auto maker.
