Renault Scala launch on September 7th
Renault has finally come up with the Scala launch date that has been fixed on September 7th, 2012. This is the last vehicle scheduled to be launched in India which the company had promised to bring in the domestic market while re-entering India. Scala which is basically a re-skinned version of Nissan Sunny sedan has undergone few cosmetic touch ups to make sure that it flaunts French looks. The sedan has been designed at the Renault’s Design studio located in Mumbai, the team at the Mumbai studio have worked meticulously to ensure that Sacal looks a tad different from Sunny.

The prominent changes that have been made in the sedan include a copiously tweaked fascias and a availability of a CVT automatic gearbox (which is optional), offered on the petrol version. It has already been made clear that the French car maker will price Scala a notch higher than Sunny, therefore expect the sedan to come with price tag ranging between Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 10 lakh. Scala will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options, the petrol version will be housed with a 1.5 litre petrol engine while the diesel version will be offered with a 1.5 litre K9K diesel motor. Scala will be rendered in four trim levels which include two petrol trims (RxE and RxL) and two diesel trims (RxL and RxZ). These engines will be harmonized to a five speed manual transmission.

If we compare Renault Scala’s price (expected) with Nissan Sunny price, then we will realize that there is a huge gap there. Nissan Sunny price in India begins at Rs 5.93 lakhs (ex-showroom price), a price gap of roughly 2 lakhs (speculated) is not less, especially when both the products have striking similarities. However, if the gap between the price shrinks to Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 things will be much better for Scala.
