Suzuki in the process of adding its name in the top ten car makers in Australia
Suzuki Australia is doing its preparations in order to climb up the ladder and secure any rung in the top ten. Currently the Maruti India ally is on the 12th pedestal in Australia. For this, Suzuki will be expanding its portfolio as well as increasing its dealer base in the Kangaroo country. The target is set for 2017 and en route Suzuki has launched Swift Sport in there and will be launching more soon. Notably, the Swift Sport is also expected to be launched in India and is a much awaited car.

The Suzuki dreams of climbing to a higher pedestal could have been realized last year but following the strike at the Manesar and Gurgaon plant in India, it could not get enough of cars to be exported to Australia. The Maruti A-star sold there as Suzuki Alto could not be sent to the dealerships in Australia and hence the waiting period bulged to three months leading to severe revenue loss to the company. This also has impacted sales of Suzuki cars in Australia in the beginning of this year. However, things have improved now and with production back on track at Maruti’s plant in India, Suzuki hopes to have improved presence in Australia as well.

Suzuki’s rivals – Honda and Kia have exceptionally well plans for 2012 and this time the Japanese car maker will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that it is included in the top ten car makers in Australia. In order to keep its portfolio live and fresh, Suzuki will be launching makeover versions of Suzuki SX4 and Alto in the second half of this year. The third addition could be the Maruti XA Alpha which was unveiled at the Auto Expo in India. The XA will join Suzuki Jimny Sierra and SX4 crossover that are currently offered in Australia.
