Toyota car sales declined by 24 percent

It appears that Toyota Kirloskar Motors didn’t have a good time in December 2012. The sales of the company for last month tumbled down by 24%. The company sold merely 12,071 units of Toyota cars, which were 15,948 units of sales in December 2011. However, it is quite a well-known fact the 2012 was a slow year for the passenger car segment. But at the same time, there were many car companies, which managed to score high marks in terms of sales and resulted in positive sales growth in 2012. With the fall, a cumulative growth of 27% was also registered by Toyota.

Toyota Models, which actually helped Toyota to survive last year, was Corolla Altis, Toyota Etios twins and Toyota Innova MPV. The firm managed to sell around 90,663 units of Etios cars in 2011, which also comprise of 1490 units which were exported to other global markets. An increasing growth of 46% was also registered by Toyota Innova that went on selling 75911 units. Even Toyota Fortuner helped it to rise a bit as a rising growth of 39% was seen there as well. But on the other hand, Toyota Corolla Altis sales tumbled down by 26% and came to 6912 units of sales in 2011.

If we see the overall sales of the company from last year, it has been decent, but because of slow market growth in 2012, the company sales are affected for sure. Toyota is hoping to continue to deliver its ‘Waka Doki’ experience to its consumers this year as well. Also, it has plans to work even harder and increase its consumer base in 2013 and hike up the sales with new products. Furthermore, Toyota India will for sure buckle up even more as the competition in the market has increased in every segment of the Indian car bazaar.
