Toyota developing hybrid cars in China; on sale by 2015

Considering the rise in fuel prices in most of the countries across the globe and to strengthen its hold over the emerging auto market in Asia, Toyota Motor Corporation has come up with a healthy announcement. The company will be developing hybrid cars in Changshu; a city based in China. As per the Japanese auto giant, an amount of $689 million will be invested in the new Research and Development (R&D) hub for low-emission vehicle technology based in the Chinese city.

The government of China is keen on to develop eco-friendly automobiles in the nation, as a result invites vehicle manufacturers around the world to share the technological aspects and expertise with their domestic colleagues. It is expected that till the year 2015, Toyota; one of the largest automobile manufacturer, will commence the sale of China-made hybrid cars.

A company representative informed that new R&D hub is about 100 km away from the commercial capital Shanghai and it is projected that by 2013 it will be operational with the testing grounds and other facilities.

The hybrid vehicles are those which run on an electric powered machine or alternately on petrol/diesel. They are extremely fuel economical as compared to the usual diesel or petrol run automobiles. The vital factor of this technology is that the emission meter is always on the lowest side and hence is environment friendly.

The Japan based automaker has build up a series of its Prius hybrid cars earlier and now in China it desires to develop hybrid component technology. Toyota has collaborated with domestic firms FAW Group and Guangzhou Automobile Co. for China made hybrid systems for its vehicles.
