Toyota Etios gets highest monthly sales in March

Toyota Kirloskar, the subsidiary unit of world auto-leader, Toyota Motors has attained growth of 87 % in the month of March 2012. The auto-marker has sold 18,220 units in March 2012 compared to 9,726 unit sales in the same month in 2011. Toyota Etios has evolved as the key player for the company, registering 89% growth in the first quarter with sales of 14,538 units compared to 7,694 unit sales in the last quarter of 2011. The Etios has also registered 57% growth with its highest monthly sales of 5,104 units in March 2012, compared to 3,257 unit sales in the same month in 2011. In addition, the Toyota Etios Liva also registered its highest month sales of 4034 units in March 2012.

Besides this, the new Toyota Innova MPV recorded sales of 6,765 units in March 2012 in comparison to 4,418 unit sales in March last year, thereby attaining growth of 53%. The new Fortuner SUV also had a great time last month with the sales of 1,379 units in comparison to 980 unit sales in March 2012, thereby attaining a total growth of 41%. Added to this, the Toyota Corolla Altis sedan sold 917 units.

Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing stated that Etios has continued to record highest sales with a remarkable growth in the first quarter of the year. He added that the New Innova and the New Fortuner have also been consistently good in sales stats. He also affirmed that the company has registered growth of 85% in the first quarter of the year. The official however also stated that in April 2012, the sales might decline due to increased excise duty, registration tax and VAT.
