Toyota Etios and Etios Liva sales above expectations
Toyota Motors, the largest manufacturer of cars in the world said that the car sales of its model Toyota Etios in India are going much ahead of what company had earlier expected. Toshihiro Takeda, Manager, Toyota India product planning group, said that the company had predicted the sales of Toyota Etios to be around 30 thousand units but the sale have surpassed the expectations by selling 37 thousand units within 7 months of the launch of the car.
It is not only the Toyota Etios that is doing the wonders in terms of sales figures but also its hatchback sibling, the Toyota Etios Liva, is doing the same for the car giants Toyota Motors. The Toyota Etios Liva has recieved 1400 bookings in just 4 days of its launch on 27 June. The company had expected the figures to be around 50 per cent of it.
With the rival companies like Nissan, Volkswagen and General Motors, all gearing up for launches in the entry level hatchback segment in India and Brazil, the competition is set to become fiercer. The progress of Toyota in these two markets under these conditions will clear the future of the company in terms of sales. The Toyota Etios Liva is currently the cheapest car on offering from Toyota, coming with a price tag of Rs. 3,90,000. Yoshinori Noritake, chief engineer of Toyota Etios said that he was confident about the success of Toyota Etios in India and is delighted to see the car doing much better than that. He said that they decided to launch the car in India first because it is the most competitive market in the world with lots of cheap cars available. He added that the company believed that if the car does well in India, it would do well in any other part of the world.
