Toyota Etios Hybrid in the offing
Toyota Kirloskar Motors India Limited has recently launched the next generation version of its popular sedan Toyota Etios in India. And now, the company seeks to bring out a hybrid variant of this flagship compact sedan in the country by near future. The Japanese auto giant now has become the world’s no. 1 hybrid car maker and aiming to enhance the market share in hybrid car market of the country. The company is reported to launch the Toyota Etios hybrid in Indian domestic auto market by end this year or in starting next year.

For Indian auto market the company has unveiled the National Electric Mobility Master Plan 2020. In this plan it seeks to achieve a sales target of 1.7 million units of hybrid cars. The company is already selling the Toyota Prius hybrid in domestic market but now it seeks to bring out a low cost hybrid car as a variant of the Etios sedan. Along with sedan, the Liva hatchback will also under go for hybrid trim.
It is reported that hybrid trim of the Etios will be made available with both petrol and diesel engine models. But first of all this fuel efficient avatar of the beast is expected to be offered to abroad. TMC has already announced that they will launch about five new Toyota cars in India in various segments by 2015. Along with hybrid version of the compact sedan Etios, the company will be launching new small cars and one compact SUV in the country.
