Toyota Etios Motor Racing concept cars showcased in Chennai
The Japanese car maker in India, Toyota Kirloskar is geared up to bring the Etios Motors Racing (EMR) on the race tracks and for this the car maker has showcased its concept cars in Chennai. Like the Volkswagen Polo cup getting fame across the nation and encouraging the enthusiasts, Toyota is also planning to inspire the youth with Toyota ‘Etios Motor Racing series’. The company showcased its concept cars for the EMR series at its Lanson Toyota outlet located on Poonamallee High Road, Chennai.

It is speculated that the six-race series would be held next year and participants would drive the FIA-qualified standardized cars, availed by Toyota in conjunction with Red Rooster Racing, who have tuned these cars for race tracks. The major objective to cater standardized cars is to avail equal chance to the participants and to find out the actual talent.

For the driver selection, around 800 participants have been shortlisted by the company. 25 of the shortlisted candidates would be selected by the camps on the basis of their fitness and skills. The championship would be held on three different circuits. It is expected that these camps would start next weekend in four major cities i.e. Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata and New Delhi. Moreover, it is expected that the fees for the chosen participants would be around 1.5 lakh rupees.

Hitoshi Fukui, Managing Coordinator, Marketing stated that with this series Toyota would be looking forward to encourage local motorsports in India. At the Chennai outlet, the EMR cars along with racing simulators, radio controlled cars were the major attractions. Furthermore, Children’s automotive learning section was also another attraction source where kids along with their parents were imparted crash course in basic automobile technology.
