Toyota Etios racing tournament to be launched in India next year

As most of you know, the Etios series of cars of Japanese auto giant Toyota Motors has specially designed for the Indian market. The entry level sedan Toyota Etios and compact hatchback Toyota Etios Liva were launched in the Indian market after a long and intense study of the Indian market. The company had analyzed the needs and requirements of the Indian buyers very well while developing and designing these car.

Now taking the Etios initiative one step ahead, the company is looking forward to start a racing tournament around Etios model. Idea of single brand racing series finds its similarities with the tournaments like Volkswagen’s Polo R Cup. As per the recent media reports, Toyota Racing Development (TDR) has confirmed that it will be a single make racing series in the Indian market by the second half of the year 2012. The tournament will be held at three racing tracks that comprises of Buddh International Circuit in Grater Noida, and two more tracks in Coimbatore and Chennai.

The cars that will be taking part in the racing will be rebuilt by teams or customers before being rolled-out at the racing tracks. The tournament will be fully founded by Toyota, unlike the Volkswagen’s Polo Cup. However, the company is yet to take all FIA approvals, though the process of taking approvals has already been started.

It is expected that the company will showcase a new racing version of the Etios at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012, where it is also expected to announce the dates of Etios based racing tournament.
