Toyota Etios Series clocks one lakh unit sales
Proudly announcing the progress of Etios series, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) said that Toyota Etios sedan and hatchback have achieved a milestone figure of 1 lakh units jointly in the Indian auto market. Since its inception in December 2010, Etios sedan sold 50,157 units in the 2011- 2012 financial year. With such sales figures it emerged as the third largest selling sedan in the country.

Recently, the export of Etios series has begun with South Africa being the first country to receive the fleet of cars in April. TKM plans to export around 20,000 units of Etios annually and to meet the growing demand in the local as well as export market, company will increase its production capacity of Etios from the present 1,20,000 units to 2,10,000 units by the first quarter of next year at its second manufacturing unit in Bidadi.

In order to keep the production cost at check, TKM is focusing on more and more localization of parts especially of Etios family. Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts would belt out the engine and transmission for the enchanted Etios series. As per speculations, around 100,000 engines per annum will be roll out by the next quarter of this year and approximately 240,000 transmission per annum will be produced by the end of next year which will eventually take the tally of domestication of Etios parts from current 70 per cent to 90 per cent.

The company is extremely delighted with the milestone reached and owes gratitude to customers for showing the trust in the brand, Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director, TKM said. Also, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM was equally happy with the Etios series touching the one lakh mark. He said this is a small mark but it is certainly a big one for the company entering for the first time in such segments.
