Toyota expects more than 1700 units monthly sales of Etios in South Africa
Japanese car maker Toyota is highly banking on it journey to South Africa. Toyota’s SA wing TSAM will be launching the Toyota Etios in there on the coming May 21. Sensing that Etios has the capability of being an instant hit, Toyota expects to export as high as 1700 units of the car monthly to South Africa. Notably, the Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback will be exported to South Africa from India. In its new home, the Etios sedan is expected to do good the same way that it had done in India giving tough time to Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo e-CS, Ford Fiesta Classic and others.

To be sold at a price of R116 000, the Etios sedan price will be a strong deciding factor that will take it forward in South Africa. At this price, the car maker will be offering air conditioning, power steering, power brake and a pair of front airbags along with Anti-lock Braking system and notably a two year service plan is also included in this price.

Significantly, Toyota’s presence in SA got a major jolt five years ago when small car Toyota Tazz was discontinued by the Japanese car maker. This helped the German rival Volkswagen to take the lead in the market with its offering VW Polo Vivo. Now that the Etios is in South Africa soon, it will provide an excellent entry-level option for the car buyers in SA in the A and B segment and Toyota could reverse the trend in its favor. Meanwhile, the first lot of Etios cars reached Durban on Wednesday and the car maker expects that the launch on May 21 will unlock a new era for Toyota cars in SA. Back in India, the Etios has done exceptionally well in the last month of the last fiscal with inspiring sales of Toyota Etios Liva hatchback.
