Toyota launches base trim of Corolla Altis
Toyota Motors is among the few car makers that are maintaining steady pace in the industry despite of the grave conditions prevailing. In order to give wings to its sales, the car maker has launched a new entry level trim of its popular saloon – Toyota Corolla Altis. The base model known as Corolla Altis J(S) and it has replaced the base trim J petrol. To be available in diesel and petrol models, this base trim has lots of features that make it quite attractive model. Features such as USB connectivity, two airbags and music system will full function touch screen are sure to make this car a worth buy in the segment. This base trim is expected to be Toyota’s attempt to counter rising popularity of Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic.

Now that Honda has decided to imbibe diesel power in its lineup of cars soon, it seems that introduction of Altis Diesel base version with new features will be like capturing the market before the rival Civic Diesel arrives. In addition to these features, the J(S) model of Altis also has a all the features that the J trim had. The price of the J(S) petrol is Rs 11.74 lakh while that of J(S) Diesel is Rs 13.16 lakh. Both these cars have the same diesel and petrol engine options and are powered by the same 1.4 L D-4D diesel and 1.8 L petrol engine respectively.
In the new trim, except for the major difference of audio controls & MID switch on steering wheel, silver finish door handles, leather seats, dark wood finish on centre cluster and door armrests, almost all other features of the L Grade are there. Just like the L Grade, the new trim has electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn signals on them. The major difference is that where just like the J trim, the J(S) too has steel wheels while the L grade has alloy wheels.
