Toyota ready to re-vamp Camry

Toyota has always been known to make excellent quality sedans. The perfect examples are Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Camry. While the company gave Toyota Corolla a much needed makeover, its other offspring the Toyota Camry still carries on the same face on the Indian roads.

Now the latest news coming out is that the Toyota Camry will get a new style n look. The new model of Toyota Camry will first land its wheels in North America sometime in September and is expected to hit the Indian roads by the middle of 2012. The news was confirmed by a Toyota Kirloskar official. The D segment to which the car belongs, currently has a limited number of competitors like Hyundai i45, Nissan Teana, Ford Mondeo, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat. While Skoda Superb leads the segment, the Volkswagen Passat ranks second behind it and still is trying to attract new car buyers towards it.

The all new Toyota Camry to be launched in North America is expected to have a 2.5L Four Cylinder VVTi (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) engine, which will deliver a maximum power of 169bhp. The Indian version of the Toyota Camary is expected to have a few tweaks in its looks whereas the engine specifications will more or less remain the same.

Toyota at present is focusing solely on a purpose to establish its Toyota Etios brand comprising of the Toyota Etios sedan and the Toyota Etios Liva hatchback which was released a few days back. The all new Toyota Camry will be rolled out in the second quarter of 2012. However the car will come to India via CBU Route and will not be assembled in India, revealed company sources.
