Toyota recalls 1.3 million Toyota Corolla and Lexus cars globally

The first major global recall this year is by Toyota. The Japanese car maker has recalled over 1.3 million cars that includes over 7.52 lakh Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corolla Matrix in the United States. Another 3.85 lakh Toyota Lexus IS cars are also included in the recall. As per the information, the recall will affect cars globally as this is a global recall. Further information about the recall reveals that the company will be inspecting and replacing some safety unit related to airbag deployment and wiper assembly. These faulty airbag units will be replaced as these are said to deploy airbags without any reason or impact and could cause serious injury and loss of control over the car.

Though there are no injuries reported as of yet but the car maker has taken a precautionary measure to avoid any suspected injury to the Toyota car drivers or the occupants. There are over 18 stray incidents where the airbags have deployed inadvertently leading to injury and bruises to the occupants and the driver. As per the initial findings, Toyota found that the Integrated Circuit that control the airbag deployments gets interference by other electrical and other devices and it automatically triggers airbag deployment even when the car is safe and there is no impact. As part of the recall, the company will be fitting some electrical signal filter inside the unit that will not let the IC get interference of any kind and it will then work fine.
 
As per the official information, the process to install the signal filter will not take more than 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the car giant will be replacing some nut in the front windshield wiper of Lexus IS and its other cars. As per the information, this nut does not let the wipers work efficiently in extreme weather condition and thus a replacement is necessary. This process will only take around 30 minutes.
