Toyota to focus on Etios range, refrains from new car launches for few years
So is Toyota India winding up its operations or it is a hibernation phase as some reports suggest that the car maker will not be launching any new Toyota car in the next few years. If this is true, it is really shocking. Reports also suggest that the Japanese car maker will be highly focusing on Toyota Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback and it will be strengthening its production as well as exports from India. So, does this mean there is a full stop and the Indian auto industry will not see any new Toyota car in the next three years? It seems surprising but there are strong indications of it.

The Etios and Etios Liva besides the Toyota Innova and the SUV Toyota Fortuner are the best selling cars by the car maker and there is no point in keeping the line up to these many cars in India. Especially Toyota cars are accepted and regarded very much in the country. Experts believe that if there are no new car launches planned by Toyota, it means that it foresees some tough time ahead. Meanwhile some are of the opinion that by not launching any new car means that Toyota could be winding its local operations or keeping it to the production of these cars only.

Notably, the car maker has recently stepped up the production of Etios and Etios Liva and has also begun exporting to other countries such as South Africa from India. It is also said that these cars are performing decently in Indian market specially against the Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire besides other opponents including Chevrolet Sail UVA and Ford Figo. Thus said, Toyota’s strategy seems to be against the popular belief that pitching in new cars keeps the brand fresh and it also updates the technology and brings newness to the brand.

Definitely Etios range cars are awesome but the company should bring out new cars in different platform to grab max to max response from customers.
