Volkswagen Not to Launch Up in India

Denying all earlier reports of launching the entry level hatchback Up in Indian car market during the year 2017, German car maker has said that at present it doesn’t have any plans to launch Up in India due to its high cost. Earlier it was reported that with an objective to strengthen its position in hatchback segment the Volkswagen will launch the new hatchback Up in India. According to industry reports the hatchback has been developed strictly for European car maker and there is no sense of launching the same in India.

It means that VW Polo will continue to be the entry level hatchback by car maker. According to reports car maker is working on bringing the generation next Polo in Indian car market at compatible price. With launch of Ameo compact sedan in India during 2016 the car maker is already riding high on the success and intends to retain its success and want to play safe on the back of both Ameo and Polo.  Earlier it was reported that the German car maker has also joined hands with Indian car maker Tata Motors to continue its working on developing and designing of small cars, especially for Indian and Chinese car market. 
 
For the year 2017 the car maker plans to re-introduce Passat sedan during the first quarter of this year with three engine options of petrol, diesel and hybrid. Along with this the car maker is also going to launch its highly awaited compact SUV Tiguan in Indian car market during the second half of this year.
