Volkswagen Passat 2014: more details emerge
Since the news has flashed that there will be a new Volkswagen Passat in 2014, the entire auto industry in India and the world has been on toe in search of some early specifications. The new Passat 2014 will be lighter and more efficient than its present offering. In India the Volkswagen Passat is available in in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline models and its price range starts from Rs 24.27 lakh.
The new Volkswagen Passat 2014 will be based on the MQB platform that also bases the Volkswagen Golf and the Audi A3 cars. The new Passat will weigh only 1400 kg. It is expected that the platform sharing will also be reducing the price of the car. It is also expected that the new Passat will also house newly designed infotainment system with iPod and USB connectivity. There will also be a variety of petrol and diesel engine at the service of the new Passat. The new Passat will be Euro 6 pollution and other norms compliant.

The petrol engine will be 2.5L turbocharged one. The new Passat will have a start stop function. A new hybrid variant could also be in the offing with the 170PS 1.4L TSI petrol trim. The electric motor will be powered by a Li-ion battery and it will be able to push the car to 50 km exclusively on battery. The hybrid technology has also increased the performance of the new Passat and as well as it will deliver good mileage. The 168hp engine in the new Passat will be plus and will enable the new Volkswagen car to fetch new customers.
In India, Volkswagen Passat is available in diesel only versions with 1968cc engine under the hood. The premium sedan by Volkswagen has been able to perform decently well on Indian roads and its reviews have also been promising.
