The new diesel engine designed for the Volvo XC60 is also called as D3 diesel engine similar to its earlier versions but the new engine is smaller than the existing ones. As per the reports, Volvo XC60 diesel new avatar has been launched sensing the high price of petrol and increased inclination of the car buyers towards the diesel powered cars. Currently the Volvo lineup has Volvo S60 sedan starting at Rs 34.4 lakh, the Rs 49.14 lakh priced Volvo S80 luxury sedan and Volvo XC90 SUV priced at Rs 55 lakh. The new diesel engine in the new Volvo XC60 is a turbo powered three pot diesel engine. The new small but powerful engine can produce a maximum power of 163 Bhp. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission with all time all wheel drive in place ensuring that the power from the engine reaches the wheels in toto. The new D3 engine powered Volvo XC 60 will give an edge to the car maker as it has reduced the price of the car despite being brought to India under the completely built unit route. However, limited number of sales outlets and service stations in India mar the overall Volvo car sales in the country.
