Volvo’s small car V40 up for Geneva unveil will be launched in India early next year
The huge demand for small cars in India undoubtedly is an attraction for car makers. Volvo which has been dominating the ultra luxury car space in the country will be bringing a small car next year. However, it took three years for Volvo to make a decision of pitching in a small city car in the country. In addition to this, Volvo has re-launched three car variants at a much cheaper price on Wednesday. The Volvo V40 small car is scheduled for a launch at the Geneva Motor Show before it could see the world wide launch starting then. The Volvo V40 price is expected to be Rs 20-22 lakh and it will be close rival of Mercedes Benz B Class which will also be launched by that time.

Notably, Volvo has launched new variants of luxury sedans Volvo S80, and Volvo S60 and the Volvo XC60 which is a luxury compact SUV at a much cheaper price in Delhi on Wednesday. The Volvo hatchback for India will be based on the S40 platform and it will be the first small car offering by Volvo in India. The launch of the cheaper variants of three cars Volvo S80, and Volvo S60 and the Volvo XC60 is commensurate with the Vision 2020 of Volvo following which the car makers will be increasing its market share to 15 percent and accordingly set a sales target of 20, 000 units per year.

Mr Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India has launched the three affordably priced variants of Volvo cars in New Delhi. All the three variants are powered by 5-cylinder turbo D3 diesel engine. With pitching in the small car, Volvo expects that it will be able to gain volumes in the Indian car space and help it attain the sales target it has set for itself.
