2013 Hyundai Elantra gets 5 Stars for safety

The Korean car Hyundai Elantra has seen nothing but success since its launch worldwide. In India as well, the Hyundai car has decently successful first innings and it is all set for a second one soon. It has been acclaimed as best car in North America and it also was appraised as the Best Car To Buy 2012. It has a strong fight to Ford Focus and Volkswagen Passat. The Hyundai Elantra price in India is expected to be around Rs 12 lakh and Elantra launch could be anytime this year. The Elantra rivals in India will include Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and Chevrolet Cruze that is also in the process of getting a makeover.

As per the various reports available, the Elantra has received 5 stars as per the new ratings updated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, US. Notably, it is the 2013 model year car that has received that highest possible safety rating. With this, the Elantra is among the safest cars of the world even in frontal impacts for which the Elantra got 4 stars. As per the information available, it is said that Hyundai has made significant changes to the design and type of airbags used inside the 2013 Elantra. Significantly, the side and curtain airbags have been strengthened, redesigned and placed at right positions. These changes along with other minor changes to the new Elantra have enabled it to get the 5 Star safety rating.

Now that Elantra has 5 stars to its credit, it could stand at a more robust position in comparison with Chevrolet Cruze which is its closest rival. Meanwhile, there has been a greater concern whether the new Elantra will be able to deliver the same 40 mpg mileage that has been its selling point since inception.
