Best Car of the Year: Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai Motor’s marvel car Hyundai Elantra that was recently showcased at the Indian Auto Expo has bagged the North American Car of the year award. Besides, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque SUV was crowned as the best Truck of the year in US. The results were recently declared by automotive journalists at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.
The others contestants to the race for the title were Ford Focus and Volkswagen Passat among other sedans. While Land Rover Range Rover Evoque beat BMW X3 and the Honda CR-V in the final round to grab the title.

The Hyundai Elantra that has won the title debuted at the Busan International Motor Show in April 2010 and is powered by a 1.6-litre, 140 hp petrol engine with the direct fuel injection technology. While the diesel make of the car is powered by 1.6-litre Gamma turbo diesel engine.
In India, the South Korean car maker has already unveiled the Elantra and it is possible that it will soon bring this D segment car in the near future. The car has been designed at Hyundai’s studio in California and it delivers a modest average of 14 kmpl.

Meanwhile, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque managed to get to the top of the list following its evolved styling and for presenting the changes that current SUVs and crossovers are experiencing. Prominent among it is fuel economy. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque returns 11.9 kmpl on the highways but is highly powerful and can handle different terrains easily.
An independent body of reputed veteran automotive journalists has zeroed in these cars for the respective titles after these cars have been put to test and real grilling to make sure that these are the real winners of their segment. This is the second time that a Hyundai car has bagged the award among the last ten awards that were declared.
