BMW 3 Series longer wheelbase model could make it to India as well
German car maker BMW seems to have been in the process of updating its portfolio and adding new cars to it before its German rival Audi could think of taking its number one position in India. In such an attempt, BMW will be soon launching the longer version of the BMW 3 Series in the country. This BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase version was introduced to the world at the Beijing Auto Show held recently. Notably, BMW has now become the best luxury car maker in India after it overthrew Mercedes Benz.

Now that Audi is aggressively in the process to pitch in BMW cars rivals, BMW has decided to launch new cars as well as newer models of its existing cars. The upcoming BMW 3 Series LWB is part of this strategy. The decision to bring in a longer BMW 3 Series is due to the fact that this sedan is the most popular BMW car in India and is also selling well in the country. Thus launch of another model of the car means that the car buyers will have more body styles of the same car and thus will have more options leading to greater car buying. It will thus help BMW to retain its top position in India.

The LWB 3 Series model that was on display at the Beijing Motor Show was a China specific model but it has shown the possibility of its launch in other parts of the world as well. The new 3 Series LWB car promises, as the name suggests, longer wheelbase and a greater leg space for the rear passengers. As per the details available, the 3 Series will have a 2920mm wheelbase which more than 110mm longer than the current generation car. The new BMW 3 Series will continue to have the same engine line up.
