BMW recalls over 5.7 lakh BMW 3-Series, 1 Series and Z4 sports cars
BMW has recalled over 5.7 lakh cars and the BMW 3 Series (all body styles) from the model year 2007 to 2011 are included in it. In addition to it the BMW 1 Series car models of model years 2008 to 2012 as well as the BMW Z4 model years 2009 to 2011 are included in the recall. This is one of the biggest recalls by the car maker this year and soon after its declaration, the car owners were in a tizzy. As per the official information available, the car maker will be inspecting and replacing the battery cable connector that can cause disconnection leading the engine to stop working. Notably, the recall is only restricted to US and no announcement as of yet has been made about the recall affecting BMW cars in India.
The 3 Series sedan is one of the most popular BMW cars and declaring a recall of it means affecting a majority of its customers. Also, the model years included in the years is also large and encompasses almost six-year-old BMW cars. This is the reason why the number of cars recalled is high and the total figure has reached to 5.7 lakh. As BMW knows its brand and the accountability, however big is the recall, it has to perform it in order to ensure it quality consciousness.
As per the information, the cable connectors can degraded over a period of time leading to connection cut of the electrical circuit that results in making the car immobile as it fails to start. No injuries, no hazards have been reported till now and the recall is totally a precautionary measure. Also, the replacement of the connectors and other allied parts will be made free of cost. The notification process of the recall will be started in March.
