Chevrolet cars to be dearer from October 1

Car maker know that people of India will be buying cars this Diwali and it is the festive time when there is most of the car buying in the country. Sensing this, car makers have decided to hike price of their cars in India from October 1. Audi has already announced price hike for Audi Q3, Maruti will be announcing the hike within a week, Honda will hike prices soon and Chevrolet has also joined the race and it will also be raising the price of its cars from October 1. Though most of the car companies are taking recourse of the devalued rupee and higher input costs to be the reasons for the hike, the auto industry experts believe that it is a damage control mechanism to recoup the losses due to the slow sales recently.

With the announcement, the Chevrolet Spark price, Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Tavera and other cars by Chevrolet will see a price hike soon. But to what magnitude is still unknown. It is believed that it will be merely up to 5 percent increase. As per the official announcement, the extent of increase is under consideration but some believe that it will be a marginal increase of around Rs 5000 to Rs 15000 on different models.

The increase will be least on the entry level car Chevrolet Spark and it will be highest on the Chevrolet Captiva SUV. It is believed that the price rise also aims at settling the Chevrolet Sail hatchback and Chevrolet Sail sedan in a reasonable price band. It is expected that the Sail sisters will be the most affordable Chevrolet cars in India. The Sail sedan and hatchback will be bringing much volumes for the car maker as these two are aimed to be volume pullers.
