Chevrolet Enjoy caught testing for the second time

Joining the bandwagon of auto majors launching MPVs in India, GM India too will be spawning a new MPV named Chevrolet Enjoy in India in 2012. This is considered to be one of the most important launches from GM India. The MPV has been conceived and developed in alliance with its new Chinese partner SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry).Chevrolet displayed Enjoy MPV at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi earlier this year but the MPV is still under development and was even caught undergoing test runs on the roads of Bangalore, near GM’s R&D plant. This is the second time that the spied pictures have been circulated on net.

The test mule caught on camera clearly shows that the car will sport three AC vents on the dashboard and will lack AC vents in the rear part of the MPV. It seems that in order to cut the cost of the MPV, the company has taken this step. The Enjoy MPV will gun straight against Maruti Ertiga which is priced aggressively at Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Chevrolet Enjoy MPV and the Sail hatchback and sedan will come equipped with a new diesel engine made especially for the domestic market. The displacement is going to be around 1.4 litre and the Enjoy MPV will be placed below Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3. The new diesel powertrain will be produced at the Talegaon plant and Enjoy MPV can be shipped to other countries too.

GM India anticipates proliferating 8 to 10 per cent in the domestic market, the company has lined up a slew of launches this year. Towards the end of March 2012, General Motors’ Indian subsidiary Chevrolet launched the reworked Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3, the next big launch from Chevrolet in India is the Chevrolet Sail hatchback followed by the sedan version of Sail. Apart from these two cars, Chevrolet will also render the new version of Chevrolet Captiva SUV which is slated to launch in the month of April however the company has not zeroed in on any date for the launch of new Captiva.
