Chevrolet Enjoy: New MPV by GM!

The to be launched Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) by General Motors that is based on Chinese Wuling CN-100 seems to have started making news in the auto circuit way ahead of its launch. If the latest reports are to be believed Chevrolet may christen its inaugural MPV by the name of ‘Enjoy’ or ‘Njoy’.  This title is not made public by the company as of now, but by the time it hits the showroom by mid of this calendar year it is expected to be called by this name. The company intends to provide a solid threat to current MPV champions Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova by pricing its first MPV under INR 6 Lakh to 7 Lakh.

Apart from many vehicles that General Motors displayed at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, the vehicle that cleanly read ‘MPV’ was the much talked about at the event. The vehicle that has the capability to seat seven individuals will be made available with two engine choices of petrol and diesel.

The petrol version is expected to make its way first at the time of official launch of the MPV alias ‘Chevrolet Enjoy’, followed by diesel variant that will be put on sale by the US based auto giant early 2013. The 1.4L petrol run engine will be seen generating a maximum power of 94.6 bhp, whereas the diesel version will be powered by a frugal 1.3L SDE power-train. The interesting fact about this 1.3L motor is that it is General Motors answer to the monopoly of Fiat Motors 1.3L Multijet engine.

Besides this MPV the other vehicles of General Motors brand Chevrolet that caught the attention of the crowd at 2012 Auto Expo were Chevrolet Sail hatchback, Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 AT and Chevrolet Tavera Neo3 BS IV along with Chevrolet Beat in a sportier avatar.
