General Motors India certainly will be making its portfolio ready for a big show in this year. Where the Tavera Neo 3 is already there in the BSIV version, the Chevrolet Spark is also in the process of getting a facelift. As per the latest buzz, Chevrolet is working on Chevrolet Spark EV version. The electric motor powered Spark was recently spotted testing. The Chevrolet Spark EV got a world preview in 2011. Then the company has not been able to show any development in this field but the recent spy pic shows that the Spark EV is nearing its launch. Notably, the world edition of Chevrolet Spark is sold as Chevrolet Beat in India. So the India version of the Chevrolet Spark EV will be known as Chevrolet Beat EV.

US is also awaiting the launch of the new 2013 model of the Chevrolet Spark (called Beat in India) and it is expected to be launched this summer there. Way back in India, the Chevrolet Spark EV will be put next to Mahindra Reva NXR that will be launching this Diwali. Like the Reva NXR, the Beat Electric car will be purely powered by the electric motor and thus will have null tail pipe emissions. However, car experts suggest that when there is craze for anything and everything in diesel launching EV will not be able to fetch as much response as the American car maker would expect.
