Chevrolet Spark to woo young gen in US soon
The Chevrolet Spark (Chevrolet Beat in India) will be offered packed in an attractive package in US at a starting price of $ 12,995 (around Rs 6.62 lakh in Indian rupees). The proposed peppy, sporty and four seater small car is believed to rock in US due to its being an excellent city car. The five door hatchback will be offered this Summer in US in a wide range of shades from Salsa, Lemonade, Techno Pink to Jalapeno and Denim. Contrary to the version available in India, the Chevrolet Spark will have 10 air bags as standard as part of the safety features and there will also be a MyLink connectivity feature.

The Chevrolet Spark of US is launched in India as Chevrolet Beat while there is also an entry level offering Chevrolet Spark that is much small in size and capacity than the Beat. In India, the Chevrolet Beat Diesel has done exceptionally well and it has sold like hotcakes in the recent past bringing much activity and numbers on the overall sales of General Motors cars in India. The company vice president Chris Perry has reportedly said in various media reports that the Spark aims the younger generation and is expected to give them the features they were looking for.

The entry level Spark LS model will be powered by the 1.2 L Ecotec engine which is mated to a five speed manual gearbox and has standard features such as AC, power steering, power windows, temperature display etc. It also comes with 15-inch alloy wheels and 10 airbags are standard. Whereas the improved model Spark 1LT has all the features of LS in addition to a 7-inch color display radio with USB, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, power locking, remote keyless entry and above all cruise control.

The 2LT model that is the highest level trim has specially designed alloys, attractive fog lamps and silver colored roof rails, and variety of other exterior and interior features. Notably, a 4 speed automatic transmission will be available on all models by paying an extra $ 925. There are also attractive accessory packs available.
Meanwhile, as per media reports, an employee was hurt in an explosion that rocked the General Motors Co. Warren Technical Center when a battery exploded. This is the research and development arm of GM. It is reported that the battery was being developed for full electric cars of GM that comprises of Chevrolet Spark mini car.
