Chevrolet to launch new Spark ahead of Maruti Alto 800

It seems that Chevrolet is feeling insecure with the upcoming launch of the Maruti Alto 800 and Sail hatchback round the corner. Where it has high fear that the Alto 800 will kill the Spark, though from its own stable, the American car maker feels that the Chevrolet Sail hatchback could outshine the Chevrolet Spark and the Chevrolet Beat in India. This is the reason why the car maker is giving a facelift to the Spark and will be launching the new Spark on October 15. It is believed that the Spark facelift was almost due after it had a makeover lately. With the entry of the new Spark it is also believed that the car will have some price appreciation as well.  

Among the new features on the Spark include a restyling of the front just akin to the Chevrolet Beat. New front grille also takes a new form. The most striking thing is that the Spark looks awkward to have the Chevrolet SUV type styling as being hatchback, a SUV stature looks out of proportion. Commensurately the bumpers and the fog lamps have under changes and these have been made in proportion to the new look. However, the new Spark preserves the headlamps as is. There is chrome lining on the grille edges as well as the air dam that the horizontal strip containing the bow tie separates.   

There are changes proposed under the hood and so the same 1 L petrol engine will be there under the hood. The 63 bhp engine is doing its duty efficiently and is not in a need to be replaced. The facelift Spark will be making it more likeable car and it could be possible that rather than increasing the price, the car maker could reduce the price of the car as it fears that the Alto 800 will be doing the damage to the car.
