Chevrolet Trax caught testing, launch round the corner
The American car maker is aggressively testing the Chevrolet Trax SUV and it must be nearing its launch. The new Chevrolet SUV will be sneaking in the ambit of the likes of Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport. Most importantly, the recent spy shot reveals that the car maker is carrying out uncamouflaged tests for the new compact SUV. A test mule has been caught testing in Mexico and reports are coming in of more visuals from other parts as well. As per the sources information, the Trax will be a major SUV launch by the car maker and it expects to launch the car in over 140 countries including India and China.
In India, the Trax will be at an advantage and will have little effort in establishing itself as the segment is new and there is only handful of offering unlike the hatchback segment where Chevrolet Beat Diesel and Chevrolet Spark needed time to settle. In addition to this being positioned to combat Duster and Ecosport, the Trax will have an upper hand over Duster as the Chevrolet brand has more presence and people have accepted it well.
Initially, it will be produced at the Mexico plant and then after subsequent launches and it will be kept at a price band below the Chevrolet Captiva. The four door SUV will take care of the compact SUV segment across the world and it is expected that it will be a great offering. Though called as compact, the SUV will have an overall length of 4.2 m and it will be available in petrol and diesel engine options. A six speed manual transmission and an optional automatic transmission will be there to translate the power from the engine to the wheels. There will also be an array of safety features such as ABS, EBD and Stability Control.
