Ertiga now heads to Thailand after Indonesia
Launched in April 2012, Maruti Ertiga turned out to be one of the highest selling cars from MSI. The vehicle also helped Maruti tighten its grip in the MPV segment by toppling the long reigning Toyota Innova MPV. The compact MPV is now heading towards Thailand auto market which is a part of the RHD Asian market. Come March 19th and this highly popular model from Maruti will barge in Thailand. Announcement regarding the same was done on March 4th where local journalists were also invited.
The Thailand bound Ertiga will also be fitted with the similar chrome slated grille which is present in the Indonesian spec car. Thai bound Ertiga’s will also be a seven seater and will have the same equipments as in the Indonesian and Indian version.
Suzuki will power the Thailand bound Ertiga with the 1.4 litre K-Series petrol motor that generates a high 94 bhp and 130 Nm. This 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine will be mated to a five speed manual transmission.
Commonly called as ‘LUV’ by Maruti Suzuki India, the MPV was a pioneer in the compact MPV segment. Maruti Ertiga which is conceived on Swift hatchback has also been introduced in the Indonesian car market. CKD kits of the vehicle are shipped to Indonesia where it is assembled locally. It is yet not clear whether Ertiga will be assembled locally in Thailand as it is done in Indonesia; however India is going to be the production base for the MPV.
