Ford EcoBoost 1L engine bags another award, total five till now
Undoubtedly, Ford Ecosport will be a hit in India. Reason behind this so much confidence in the market and among those who know this industry thoroughly is that people of India look at the engine, mileage and the dependability of the car. This is the reason why Maruti cars have enjoyed their grip over the market and so have Hyundai cars. As Toyota, Honda and Ford have few offerings these had to be content with a comparatively less market share than the big wig Maruti. Now that Ecosport is nearing its launch there is another achievement that has made its wait worth. The 1 L EcoBoost engine that will be doing duty under its hood has won the International Paul Pietsch Award 2013.
The award was conferred the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport Best Cars Awards and the engine has been acclaimed to be the best one in terms of technological innovation. Thus being a masterpiece of technology, the car will have such an engine that is frugal as well as powerful and long lasting. Thus it could be possible that it will be Maruti cars that are said to be maintenance free cars in India. Though Ecosport rivals such as Renault Duster and Premier Rio are using highly dependent engine options but the EcoBoost engine has a charm in itself.
Notably, it is not the first time that the engine has impressed the judges with its sheer performance as it had already bagged as many as five awards in a row. The 1 L EcoBoost engine is a three cylinder engine and it can be tuned to various output levels. As it is only 1L capacity engine and that too with only three cylinders, the engine is highly frugal. In India as well at a point of time in second half of 2012, there was some ad campaign by Ford highlighting the frugality of this little genie.
