Ford EcoSport auto transmission version spied!

It has been almost one year since the SUV enthusiasts in the Indian market are eagerly waiting for the launch of Ford EcoSport. The good news for Eco Sport lovers is that an automatic variant of the car recently caught testing, which has given force to the speculations that the company may include the automatic transmission variant as well in the line-up of EcoSport in India.

The latest spy pictures of the new EcoSport show a brand new design, while interior looks quite similar to new Fiesta global sedan of the company. The features that are reportedly could be made out of these spy shots include an automatic climate control and a dual airbags for driver and front passenger. It is expected that the company will rollout this model in the country early next year, where it will be competing with likes of Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo.

First showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012, the EcoSport is a highly fuel efficient compact SUV which is expected to be launched in the price segment Rs 8 to 10 lakh. Powered by a 1.0L Ecoboost engine, the vehicle will be delivering a power figure equivalent to a 1.6L petrol engine. This makes the vehicle extremely light weight without compromising on the power front. The peak power of this highly efficient engine is 120 bhp in combination with a peak torque of 200 Nm (while driven in Ecoboost mode).

The good news is that EcoSport will also be launched in the diesel version powered by a 1.5 Liter TDCI engine that will be outpouring a peak power of 90 bhp in combination with a peak torque of 200 Nm. The EcoSport is expected to be launched in front wheel drive variant only, and a four wheel drive variant is not likely to be included in its line-up in the price conscious Indian car market.

Ford India appears to be working hard on the Indian portfolio and I am a big fan of Ford cars. Ford displayed its new SUV, Ford EcoSport in the beginning of the year and literally the SUV took my breath away.
