Ford EcoSport delivery expected to begin in August 2013

Ford India has teased its Indian fans a lot with the EcoSport SUV. But now it seems that teasing time is coming to an end. According to the fresh reports, Ford EcoSport is expected to be launched in the coming months of 2013. And what is further interesting is that the deliveries of this Mini SUV are already scheduled. The delivery of Ford EcoSport is likely to commence from August 2013. No finalized launch date but the delivery month is final. Interesting certainly! The car has been seen on Indian roads during its test runs a number of times. These test runs gave rise to the news that it will be launched in early 2013.

Talking about the car, Ford EcoSport has been developed on the Ford Fiesta Platform that comes with three-cylinder 1.0-Litre of turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine. This engine will be producing 120BHP of peak power along with generating 170Nm of maximum torque. Also the car will be launched in a diesel variant that would sport, 1.5-litre diesel engine under the hood, producing 91BHP of maximum power along with 204Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant will be mated with six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

Besides the engines, the new Ford EcoSport will be under the sub-4 meter category, which means the pricing of the car will be utterly competitive. According to the grapevine, the car price will land around Rs. 7 to 9 lakh. So far, Ford hasn’t given any clarification behind the delay in the launch of EcoSport. Cars like Renault Duster, Mahindra Quanto are really doing well in this segment and fetching good sales volumes for their respective firms. Therefore, Ford shouldn’t delay any more and launch EcoSport in the Indian car market as soon as possible. Apart from Duster and Quanto, other cars like XA Alpha, Chevrolet Trax and Volkswagen Taigun are all set to compete in the segment very soon.
