Ford Ecosport lands in India for homologation

It seems that the time to kick start the countdown for the Ford Ecosport launch in India has come. Some reports reveal that the American car maker has recently shipped some of these SUVs in India for homologation. These SUVs will be put to test and upon the testing by ARAI and other government bodies these will be approved for Indian roads. Notably, the Ecosport is an upcoming SUV by Ford and its launch has been schedule in early 2013. The present arrangements suggest an early launch. The Ecosport price in India could be finalized between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh and the Ford SUV will be a close rival of the Renault Duster and the recently arrived Mahindra Quanto.

Already launched and selling in large numbers in Brazil, the American SUV has its international showcase at the Auto Expo held in January in New Delhi and since then the SUV is on the radar of auto enthusiasts and car buyers. Based on the B Platform, the SUV has been developed to be robust, performing and highly maneuverable which is the perfect recipe of an urban SUV. To be available in petrol and diesel variants, the SUV shares platform with the Ford Fiesta sedan and the Ford B Max MPV.

People of India have tested and highly acclaimed Ford cars specially the Ford Figo and the Ford Fiesta sedan and now there is high anticipation for this SUV specially when the compact SUV segment has compelled the hatchback and sedan buyers to look for compact SUVs. The recent addition of Quanto SUV has highly impacted the segment. The Ecosport is expected to influence the market very much following its low price, high level of comfort and features and specially its highly performing engine technology. It will sport the 1 L Ecoboost engine which is known for its fuel efficiency. The diesel engine option will be 1.5 L TDCi 90bhp engine.

I hope now that Ford India soon launched the EcoSport in the country and at a competitive price. After all, who would want to buy an overpriced SUV, when other makers are keeping the price low and truly viable?

Please make a engine option in diesel variant as renault duster did. Make diesel engine upto 120bhp to competition with duster and scorpio.... Else make higher length version... which can make a tremendous attraction to customers for tell these to FORD Management....
