Ford EcoSport launch plans intact, Maruti XA Alpha also nears launch
The compact SUV market is on the verge of getting another volume puller model – Ford Ecosport. As per the latest developments, the Ford Ecosport Urban Discoveries event is a grand success and this really shows how eagerly the SUV enthusiasts and people yearning to buy it are waiting for it. This new SUV is also crucial to India as this is going to break all benchmarks of mileage by a petrol car. Fitted with world renowned 1L EcoBoost petrol engine, the petrol model of this car is expected to return very high mileage. Believed to be in the price range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, the new SUV is scheduled to be launched in June.

The developments also suggest that construction of the Ford India’s second plant at Sanand in Gujarat is in full swing and it is believed to be operation by early 2015. It will be producing over 2.4 lakh cars once production kicks off. With the help of this plant, the total installed production capacity of Ford India will rise to over 4.4 lakh cars. Another developments indicates that there is a huge response to the car after it is displayed at select public malls in various cities of the country and people have participated in the Urban Discoveries campaign with full enthusiasm and jest.
The Ecosport is the second compact SUV that is most anticipated in the country. It will be a rival to Renault Duster and will also dent Mahindra Quanto sales. However, experts believe that the real show of strength is yet to come with the launch of Maruti XA Alpha. Once the launch of this car is there sometime this year end or early next year during the India Auto Expo at Noida, there will be a big tussle among these four. Being a Maruti car, the XA Alpha is believed to be at an advantage.
