The Indian unit of the American car maker Ford has revealed few more details of their much awaited compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Ford EcoSport. Excited with the good opening response received by this innovative crossover in the Brazil and Argentina, the company is now looking forward to increase the popularity base for this model in the Indian market. The EcoSport model will be launched in the country early next year in the expected price range of Rs 8 to 10 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Renault Duster and Maruti Ertiga. Meanwhile, the company has revealed a few more details at their website including the details like ground clearance and other specifications. The Ford EcoSport ground clearance will be 200 mm, which mean there will be no worries for potholes and speed breakers. In a bid to make it a capable crossover suitable for both city and off-roads, the approach, break over and departure angels of this SUV are 25 degree, 25 degree and 35 degree, respectively. Moreover, to make it a safer SUV on waterlogged road, the water wading ability is kept at 550 mm. Now coming to the advance safety and performance enhancing features, the Ford EcoSport will be equipped with the features like side curtain airbags with dual front airbags, keyless entry and push button start, traction control ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission, hill launch assist and 60: 40 split rear seats.

Comparing these features with other models of this segment, EcoSport appears a clear winner. It is the first SUV under the price range of Rs 10 lakh which will be having an auto transmission variant. Also then curtain airbags will be a differentiating feature for EcoSport, as it is not available in the competition feature line-up.

The displayed Ford Ecosport pictures disclose that it is a features rich SUV. It will be a great power and performance offering compact SUV but the company should bring out it in both petrol and diesel trims.
