Ford Ecosport to arrive in Indonesia this year, India launch plan intact
Ford has finalized the launch plans of one its best selling Brazilian SUV Ford Ecosport. It will be entering India and then it will be launched in Indonesia later this year. These details have come up when the car maker has almost finalized the launch plan for India and it has tested it aggressively in the country and has passed all certifications as well as approvals. The Ecosport SUV price in India is expected to be around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and it will be competing with the inbound Mahindra Quanto, Renault Duster and the upcoming Maruti XA Alpha. The Indonesian model is bound to be right hand drive and thus it will either be sourced from India or Thailand. It is also reportedly known that the SUV is undergoing tests in Thailand as well where it will be launched shortly.
The Indonesian model will be an all petrol model and it will not have any diesel engine option as Indonesia prefers petrol cars. In Thailand as well the American car giant is going to launch the petrol only model powered by award winning 1 L EcoBoost engine. In India as well the car maker is readying the petrol and diesel engine models. In the beginning of its publicity of the car, the car maker has popularized the mileage by the petrol engine by showcasing that no destination is far for it. Meanwhile, Renault Duster which is its arch rival is doing some unbelievable wonders.
Thus just like Renault Duster, Ford will also be producing EcoSport in India and will be exporting it to the right hand driven car markets which are nearby. Meanwhile, in Brazil, which is the home turf of EcoSport, the SUV has outsell Duster badly but the Indian market is more challenging and it is believed that both will have some exciting tussle in India.
