Ford Ecosport to have longer wheelbase in China

Ford will be launching the longer wheelbase version of the Ford Ecosport SUV and it has revealed it recently. This China specific version has a longer wheelbase than the Indian as well as the Brazilian Ecosport. As per the sources information, the Ecosport that was revealed is the production version and the very same model will be sold in the Chinese market. Meanwhile, India still awaits a glimpse of the production version of this Ford SUV and after the unveil at the Indian Auto Expo in January there has been waiting, waiting and waiting for the car and nothing less than that.

However, some spy pics and the teaser showing the power and mileage of the Ecoboost engine on the Ecosport has certainly added fuel to the wait. In India, the Ecosport price is expected to be around Rs 8 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh and the launch is scheduled early next year. By the time, Ecosport arrives in India, the market will also probably find some new entrants. The Duster is already doing well and the Mahindra Quanto has added some quick numbers to the utility car segment sales, and the Ecosport will then complete the process.

Meanwhile, the upcoming SUV Maruti XA Alpha is also expected to counter all the claims made any of these SUVs. As per the experts in the industry, the XA Alpha will outshine all these SUVs as soon as it is launched. The reason behind this is that Maruti still lacks a true SUV that can be termed as SUV and the XA Alpha will fill the void. There is the Maruti Grand Vitara but it is overpriced, available only on petrol and is a completely built up unit. So all negatives are in favor of Grand Vitara and thus it is struggling for some sales. 

 
Meanwhile, if we talk of the Ecosport, the China specific model is 39 mm long than the other Ecosport available in Brazil. It will be offered in 1.5 L and 1 L petrol engine options. In India, Ford will also launch the car with a 1.5 L 90 bhp diesel engine option.
