Ford Ecosport to take on Renault Duster
The French automaker, Renault has buzzed the marketplace with the new Renault Duster SUV that will have head-to-head with the all new compact SUV Ford Ecosport, both the vehicles has been showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
The Renault Duster is an original concept of Dacia and a joint engineering venture of Renault Technologie Romania (RTR) and Le Losange (Renault’s Technocentre site near Versailles) in France. Company has spent 290 million Euros to make this dream come true with more than 50% original Dacia vehicle’s components.

The Duster is going through the testing procedure, spotted near its production plant. Company is sourcing the raw material from the local suppliers that will reduce the total production cost of the vehicle, at its Oragadam plant with its domestic alliance Nissan. Its 4x2 and 4x4 versions are expected to be available for the Indian buyers.
This Renault SUV is expected to arrive on Indian roads somewhere in Q2 2012. The Duster has been especially designed for the new urban families that perfectly fit to their daily driving purposes and commercial usage. The Renault Duster will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

The 1461cc diesel offers maximum power of 119bhp at 4000rpm and torque of 240Nm at 1750rpm. This engine is coupled with the six speed manual gearbox. On the other side, the 1598cc petrol engine comes matted with five speed manual transmission that churns out a peak power of 105bhp at 5750rpm and torque of 149Nm at 3750rpm. In India, it will cost around Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
