Ford recalls 16,444 units of EcoSport
Where at one side U.S. based car maker Ford is getting ready to bring the upgraded version of its highly acclaimed compact SUV EcoSport during the festive season of Christmas this year, on the other side it has recalled 16, 444 units of Ecosport manufactured between November 2013 and April 2014 due to Rear Twist Beam (RTB) issue. According to company sources the RTB bolt could not be tightened according to standard requirement by mistake and might cause an accident. The sources of company also cleared that this step has been taken as a preventive measure to minimize the chances of accidents. However till now there is no news regarding accident due to this issue.

It is for the third time that U.S. car maker has recalled EcoSport from Indian car market. Prior to this it recalled 972 units immediately after its launch in 2013 to glow plug issue. The second recall was made in December last year to resolve the issue pertaining with front airbag and fuel line.
According to sources of company “the rear twist beam (RTB) bolt may not have been tightened to specification in some EcoSport units produced between November 2013 and April 2014 at its Chennai factory. The sources also said that they are writing to 16,444 customers for getting their vehicles inspected at a local dealer. If needed, Ford dealership will carry out necessary rework free of cost.”
